“Mad Church Disease”-Overcoming The Burnout Epidemic

“Mad Church Disease”-Overcoming The Burnout Epidemic

Innovative Ministry Leader just finished reading an advance copy of Anne Jackson’s new book “Mad Church Disease.” What an amazing resource for every Pastor, Worship Leader, Ministry Leader, Business Professional, etc. This is a book that focuses on organizing your life, to have a healthy balance with work, family, and personal time.

Popular Communicator/Blogger, Anne Jackson (www.flowerdust.net) shares her personal story of how burnout has effected her personal life throughout the years. Anne focuses on the emotional, physical, relational and spiritual effects of the burnout epidemic.

Mad Church Disease does a complete job at identifying burnout, the risks, and how to recover. The book takes a serious look at the health factors and how serious this silent disease can be for you or your organization. The book concludes with the focus of how to process the pain of being hurt in the past, which almost everyone can relate to at some point in their life. Beyond reading Mad Church Disease, this is a great resource to have concurrent in your life and to share with your entire team.

What we really admire about this book, is that Anne shares honesty and real stories of her past, that you will be able to relate with. At the end of each Chapter, there is a section called the “Exam Room,” which will allow you to self assess your own life. You will also find at the end of each Chapter a “Second Opinion” section that will express the views of some world class leaders such as Bill Hybels, Craig Groeschel, Perry Noble, and more.

Innovative Ministry Leader strongly endorses this book and you will be able to pick up a copy in February of 2009. We will be doing some more focuses on Mad Church Disease  before the book is released so stay tuned.  You can also pre-order from Amazon by clicking here.

In the mean time you can check out three of Anne’s sites www.annejacksonwrotethis.com www.flowerdust.net and www.MadChurchDisease.com for more information.

Future of Worship

A few months ago we had the opportunity to attend the Pure Worship Institute. Jeff Deyo in one of the keynotes discussed the “Future of Worship.” This opened a great dialog of challenges for Worship Leaders that were there. I am going to touch on one of the points that he discussed.

He started out by describing an analogy of him and his wife. He said that he can come home one day, and give his wife a beautiful greeting card. The card has a nice poem that was professionally written by the great folks at Hallmark. But then he puts the card down, and tells his wife what she means to him. The words are straight from the heart and might not be as proper as the words in the greeting card, but it is 100% authentic.

Why can’t we Worship the God we serve with this motive? He went on to explain that in Worship we should be able to continue with music and sing our own words to God, that in a Worship set we should not look at how much time we have and fill it in advance with so many songs. However he did mention there is nothing wrong with preparing for so many songs.

Why are we so set on other people’s “Sunday Set List?” I’m not going to lie, but this shook us up a bit.

What do you think about the Future of Worship and how we can become more intimate with God with this motive?

Anberlin “New Surrender”

Anberlin, formerly on Tooth and Nail Records has recently crossed over into the mainstream with Universal to releases their fourth album “New Surrender.” We were blown away by this album from the first listen. Not only have they kept their Christ Filled passionate lyrics, but they have delivered an amazing sound of melodies and music.

The opening song is “The Resistance” which has an upbeat tempo, stating to stand strong in Christ in the World. The dynamics and melody is extremely catchy and you will find this playing over and over in your head.

“Feel Good Drag,” is a re-rerelease from their second album. However this time around the production is much stronger and the song has a much better sound. This is a song about being careful of the relationships you get yourself in. Again extremely strong melodies and guitar rifts.

Our favorite song on the album is “Breathe.” The song is all about freedom. We have posted the lyrics for you to read for yourself.

“Breathe” by Anberin

This is surrender
to a wartorn life i’ve lived
scars and stripes forever
in need of change i can’t resist

no need to hide anything anymore
cant return to who i was before

i can finally breathe
suddenly alive
i can finally move
the world feels revived

this long of a struggle
finally opened up my eyes
revolutions not easy
with a civil war on the inside

no need to hide anything anymore
cant return to who i was before

i can finally breathe
suddenly alive
i can finally move
cause I realise

i can finally breathe
suddenly alive
i can finally move
the world feels revived

Be sure to pick up a copy of this new release. This is a true display of modern, authentic worship, that we wish we could see more Worship Leaders engage with.

Innovative Worship Leader: JLee

Jonathan Lee (JLee) is a twenty six year old passionate worship leader with a heart to lead people into the presence of a holy God. Jonathan Lee is the co-writer to the songs Jesus I surrender, Nothing less than all of me, Unveil and Revolution. Most of the songs he has co-written are featured on two of Jeff Deyo’s latest cd’s, including the title track for the latest release “Unveil.” Jonathan has also shared the stage with Paul Baloche, Jeff Deyo, Steve Fee, Brenton Brown, Mark Roach, Vicki Beeching, Holland Davis, and more.

Jonathan has traveled around the country sharing his heart for worship with his amazing band Matt Underwood, Charlie Watson, Phil Snowden and Aaron Farmer. Together they share a vision to lead people to God’s heart so that we as Christians can truly come back to the heart of worship.

For the past 4 years Jonathan Lee has been mentored by Jeff Deyo. Deyo has invested time and energy in pouring into Jonathan’s life, believing deeply in the calling and vision God has placed in him. Jonathan is not only guided by Deyo in the business aspect of the music industry but more importantly in having a strong, vibrant walk with God. His God-given gifts and talents have been stretched and pulled on for the purpose of affecting countless lives for the Kingdom of God.

Jonathan Lee’s vision and goal is first and foremost to lift up the name of Jesus so that all people might be drawn to God, as stated in John 12:32. His desire is to worship the King of kings with all of his heart and his life with the hope of leading people to the true heart of God. He is completely consumed with a passionate love for God, and there is no doubt when you hear his music and experience his worship leading that this young worshiper is truly set apart.

This Winter Jonathan Lee (JLee) will release his first full length cd, which will feature “Beautiful King,” a new song which you can listen to the demo now at his site. This song has taken a strong movement at conferences, festivals and youth events this summer.

We at Innovative Ministry Leader have seen and heard samples of this new album and anticipate it to be one of the biggest releases for 2009.
