When Will the Church Stand Up?

I am posting this because I can’t stand seeing this in the media anymore. The US Government just provided 700 Billion for the Finance Companies to continue operating after their own failures and now on the table is 25 Billion for three US auto makers. This is ridiculous! The foreign auto makers aren’t asking for anything because they are not whipped by unions and other controllable forces. We live in a free market, business succeed and fail all the time from the type of leadership they have. Just because you have supported political campaigns in the past does not make you eligible for tax payers money to bail you out.

When will the church stand up?

I just saw a stat yesterday that 1 out of 8 children in our own country is starving, not to mention the millions of children starving all over the world. These tax dollars could go to feed hungry children and provide clothes for them, instead we are compensating million dollar salaries and unions to operate.

The church needs to be a voice for 2009. The church can influence millions of people each week, including our so called politicians in Washington. Lets focus on real problems and not the problems of failing companies.

Please voice your opinion.

Innovate, not Imitate

We are working on a post that will come out next week entitled Innovate, not Imitate. So many times we seek after what is innovative, that we tend to start imitating other organizations, churches and ministries. Many think that you must have the coolest technology or the most cutting edge internet campus.

We wanted to pose the question, what is true innovation? Let us know your thoughts and we will mention some in the post next week.

The Power of 5 (Part 5 of 5) Technology

The last component that we feel is extremely important is having an understanding in Technology. This does not mean you have to be an expert in cool gadgets and devices, but at least understand what culture is using to communicate. We live in a world where conversations have been replaced by text messaging, emails, and other unique ways to communicate. Churches can now broadcast over the web, and by satellite to multiple campuses. Having a strong understanding of sound, lighting, and visual media, can enhance your ministry for delivering the gospel to people that don’t know Christ.

A lot of people are negative towards technology, but even the simplest things such as the bible are results of technological advancements. (printing press) Yes at times learning something new can be uncomfortable, but that is the price for reaching more people to Christ.

What are some areas of technology that you want to learn more about? Let us know and we can point you in the right direction.

Elevation Church-Steven Furtick

www.elevationchurch.org

Innovative Ministry Leader wanted to feature Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC. Elevation Church is the second fastest growing Church in the country and is lead by 28 year old Steven Furtick. Steven Furtick is already considered to be one of the most influential leaders in the country.

The Elevation Church website archives sermons from each weekend, on issues that are real and relevant to today’s culture. They are currently in a series entitled “The Real Change Campaign.”

Elevation Worship is the Worship Band which writes original music and has released a few cds. We really admire that they are not caught up in the Nashville formula and write real and relevant worship music. We will do a review and highlight of their latest album over the next month.

The Power of 5 (Part 4 of 5) Culture

Culture seems to be a component that most ministries and organizations like to brush over. We feel that one of the real reasons the church is not growing is because of the lack of interest they have in different cultures. Each city across the country has a vast variety of different cultures.

Understanding the world we live in is important especially when it comes to being real and relevant. If we are to share Jesus our Savior who we love so much, we have to understand the world we are presenting him in. This does not mean to be of the world, but to acknowledge it, to be able to connect with the people that need him most.

We see many churches and ministry making a strong effort to reach out to different cultures that many would never even approach. One that we really admire is Crossover Church in Tampa, Fl. They specifically reach out to the hip hop culture. XXX Church is another that recently moved to Las Vegas to help people deal with the sin of Pornography. They have also been able to lead many adult entertainers out of the industry and into a relationship with Jesus Christ.

What are some ways you can connect with you local culture? Where are some areas that need Jesus the most?

We live in a dark world and we have to be the change.
